Blackbeard's Castle

EST. 1679

The Castle

A National Historic Landmark, perched above the harbor in St. Thomas.
The Story

Three centuries above the harbor.

Built in 1679 by the Danes as Skytsborg — the sky tower. Renamed for legend. One of five National Historic Landmarks in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The original watchtower still stands. So do the gardens, the stone walls, the staircases. Today the property is a working hospitality destination — historic tower, casual poolside restaurant, gift shop, and a boutique hotel in restoration.

It’s also home to the largest collection of life-size pirate statues on St. Thomas — scattered across the gardens and overlooks, ready for a photo.

Climb the tower. Sit by the pool. Browse the shop. Take the walking tour. Plan your stay. Each side of the castle, in its own voice.
