The castle gates are open again and the hilltop is alive. If you read somewhere that we’re closed, that news is a few years behind. Here is what’s true today.

Is Blackbeard’s Castle open?

Yes. Blackbeard’s Castle is open daily. The tower, grounds, Rum Room, and The Pirate’s Den gift shop are open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Jolly Roger’s pool bar and restaurant is open 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The boutique hotel is now taking reservations.

How much does it cost to visit Blackbeard’s Castle?

General Admission is $15 per person and includes the castle grounds and tower, pool and lounge access at Jolly Roger’s, and a rum tasting in the Rum Room.

Can you swim at Blackbeard’s Castle?

Yes. General Admission includes pool and lounge access, and the swim-up bar at Jolly Roger’s is open to the public. No hotel key is required.

Is Blackbeard’s Castle walkable from the cruise port?

Blackbeard’s Castle sits above downtown Charlotte Amalie next to the 99 Steps. From the Havensight and Crown Bay cruise piers it is a short taxi ride, or about a 25 to 30 minute walk to downtown plus the climb up Government Hill.

Do you have to stay at the hotel to visit?

No. Day visitors are welcome with General Admission, and Jolly Roger’s is open to everyone.
